LVL UP Expo 2024 in Las Vegas Nevada

Brendan entered the Cosplay Masquerade at LVL UP Expo 2024, as Jayce Talis from Arcane: League of Legends highlighting his masterpiece hextech hammer. Michelle was helping Brendan with his performance every step of the way with the chorography, hammer building, sewing, and so she cosplayed (fem) Viktor, Jayce’s partner. She wasn’t really interested in participating in the performance because she wanted him to showcase his amazing hammer work.

After his performance, Michelle went on to the stage to help clear the stage items, then suddenly the background music changed and the background slide itself changed to photos of them cosplaying at various different conventions together, and then Brendan popped the question with a ring in his cosplay props on stage! Michelle had a suspicion something was going down this weekend, so she carried Brendan’s ring with her in her bag all weekend long. She wanted to answer the question with her own ring for Brendan!

Cosplaying Background story:

Anime, video games and nerd-pop culture had been a stable in Michelle’s life all throughout her childhood. Michelle carefully introduced Brendan to (good) anime starting with Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, then Attack on Titan, in that order.

Michelle started her first cosplay (Sayaka Miki) at AX 2010, and introduced Brendan to cosplaying in 2014 (as a scout regiment from AOT), then they attended Star Wars Celebration in 2015, then his first fully homemade cosplay was a home grown character from his book worn at San Diego Comic Con 2016. Since then Michelle and Brendan had attended every San Diego Comic Con to date, as well as various other cosplay conventions , and the cosplay game has leveled up to LVL UP Expo in Las Vegas 2024: Brendan’s first official cosplay masquerade competition. Cosplay and attending anime/comic conventions has become their favorite pass time together, using their engineering skills to create and embody their favorite heroes they love from their favorite stories.
