Dreaming of white snow shredding every winter

My passion for snowboarding started ever since I played a lot of skateboarding and snowboarding video games in my childhood when I was about 10 years old. I didn’t start skateboarding until I was in college, though I wasn’t very good. My first snowboarding session was when a co-worker invited me to go to with him on his usual solo weekend trip to the closest mountain resort, Mountain High in southern California, March 2013. After that season, my next real snowboarding trip was January 2015, when a friend invited a group of us from Santa Barbara to go to Kirkwood resort at Tahoe.  That was the first time that I felt I’ve trained to get good enough to enjoy myself. After that, I’ve been addicted.

Beginning of my addiction @ Kirkwood, Lake Tahoe

Snow sports are a painful experience from all the falling on your butt and the energy expended from getting up, but I believe after 3 days or so on the bunny slopes, you’re able to enjoy it a bit better.
That season in 2015, I spent my Valentines day on the slopes at Mountain High.  2016 season was when I started getting serious with all the snowboarding. I actually went snowboarding late March in Switzerland at Wengen, Jungfrau.

Later that year for my birthday I  went to Colorado and visited Arapahoe and Loveland resorts!  Half of 2017 we went around to a couple of resorts near Tahoe, like Heavenly, Sugarbowl, Dodgeridge, and Squaw Valley. I picked my favorite resort and decided to get a season pass to Squaw/Alpine. We definitely took advantage of spring skiing all the way until the 4th of July.

There was so much snow that year in January 2017. That’s why we were able to ski all the way till mid-summer that year. Every weekend was a snow storm. We got stuck in a snowstorm on the way to Heavenly that year. We were halted on the road for 4+ hours while they did avalanche control up ahead, while the snow was pouring down on us in our car. There would be a foot of snow on top of our car by the time we were able to move on.

There was this one time when we drove from Reno to North Lake in a storm, late at night with no chains. I’m never doing that again. We had a great snow season in 2018 as well. I visited Mammoth for the first time, and it’s my favorite resort so far!

So there were many extremes we went through to catch some snow, but that’s just to show how addicted I was.

Looking forward to always shredding some snow. Winter can’t come soon enough.
